Bunlardan en \u00f6nemlileri 1970\u2019de Paris Louvre M\u00fczesinde Ingres\u2019den yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u201cThe Turkish Bath\u201d ve 1971\u2019de Andrea Mantegna\u2019dan yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u201cCarvary\u201d kopyalar\u0131d\u0131r. 1973\u2019de Avusturya H\u00fck\u00fcmet bursuyla Salzburg yaz akademisine gitti. 1987\u2019de Hasan Yelmen\u2019le birlikte Derimod K\u00fclt\u00fcr Merkezi\u2019ni kurdu ve bir\u00e7ok serginin tasar\u0131m\u0131n\u0131 \u00fcstlendi.\u00a0 Plastik sanatlar ad\u0131na o g\u00fcnlerde T\u00fcrkiye i\u00e7in \u00e7ok \u00f6nemli \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar yap\u0131ld\u0131. \u0130lk kez sanat\u00e7\u0131lar\u0131n sergileriyle birlikte kitap ve kataloglar\u0131n\u0131 haz\u0131rlad\u0131. Retrospektif\u00a0 sergiler d\u00fczenledi.<br \/>Onat \u00f6\u011fretim g\u00f6revlisi oldu\u011fu Marmara \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nden, 1983 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u201cSanatta Yeterlik\u201d ald\u0131. 1990\u2019da do\u00e7ent, 2000\u2019de profes\u00f6r oldu. Halen ayn\u0131 \u00fcniversitede \u00f6\u011fretim \u00fcyesi olarak \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmaktad\u0131r.<br \/>1970\u2019lerde fig\u00fcratif \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar \u00fcretmi\u015ftir. O y\u0131llarda \u00fclkenin ya\u015fad\u0131\u011f\u0131 sosyal olaylar resimlerinde anlat\u0131m\u0131n da a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131k kazanmas\u0131na neden olmu\u015ftur. 1980\u2019lerin ba\u015flar\u0131nda \u201cKad\u0131n\u201d konusunun i\u015flendi\u011fi yap\u0131tlar\u0131 daha sonraki bi\u00e7imsel \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n\u0131n habercisi niteli\u011findedir. \u0130lk kez kullan\u0131lan \u015fekilli tuvaller, soyutlanm\u0131\u015f bi\u00e7imlerin tekrar\u0131 ve tekrardan do\u011fan ritim. Bu y\u0131llarda resimlerindeki de\u011fi\u015fim h\u0131zla artarken mekan sorunu da azalma, yal\u0131nla\u015ft\u0131rma ve nostaljiden s\u0131yr\u0131lma eylemlerini birlikte getirmi\u015ftir. Bu tarihlerde yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 mekanda k\u00f6\u015feyi kaplayan \u201cGalaksi\u201d adl\u0131 yap\u0131t\u0131 (1988, Derimod K\u00fclt\u00fcr Merkezi) ilk kez tuvalin yerde de duvarla birlikte d\u00fczenlenebilece\u011fini g\u00f6sterdi ve \u00e7ok ilgi \u00e7ekti. Daha sonra yerde ve duvarda sergiledi\u011fi kal\u0131n tuvalleri (Nesne Tuvaller, B\u00fcy\u00fck Sergi, \u0130RHM ve ARHM 1990) ile resmin mekanla birlikte d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclebilece\u011fini g\u00fcndeme getirdi. T\u00fclin Onat\u2019\u0131n\u00a0 duvar yaln\u0131zca ta\u015f\u0131y\u0131c\u0131 eleman de\u011fil resmin bir par\u00e7as\u0131d\u0131r s\u00f6ylemi t\u00fcm sergilerinde kendini a\u00e7\u0131k\u00e7a dile getirir.<br \/>Yurt i\u00e7inde ve yurt d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda, pek \u00e7ok grup ve karma sergiye kat\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Resimleri \u00f6zel koleksiyonlarda ve m\u00fczelerde yer almaktad\u0131r.<br \/>Resimlerinde \u00f6nem verdi\u011fi derinlik, rengin etkisi ile yarat\u0131lan, 3. boyut, dokunma arzusu uyand\u0131ran, kabar\u0131k doku son resimlerinde iyice abart\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Tuvallerindeki soyut boyut, keserek delerek \u00e7\u0131kartarak somuta ge\u00e7mi\u015f ve ger\u00e7ek 3. boyut yarat\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.
